Playing with cats at the East Med Yacht Show

MAY, 2017

Yacht shows

Lovingly-restored classic cutters, yawls, catamarans and sleek mega-yachts rubbed fenders at the East Med Yacht Show, held in early May in Greece’s port city of Piraeus.
We managed to head out for a brief evening visit to the annual show, which took place from May 4 to 7 at Zeas Marina.
The show, organised by the Hellenic Professional Yacht Owners Association and the Hellenic Yacht Brokers Association, was previously held for 14 years on the Saronic island of Poros.
Two years ago, organisers decided to move it to Piraeus, which makes a lot of sense as it offers greater access to more people, including us!
And Zeas Marina is perfect, as it’s one of the most stylish marinas in the Greek capital, and definitely one of our favourites.
Catering for the most part to charter agencies and brokers, the East Med Yacht Show features crewed charter yachts available for charter or scheduled itineraries in Greece.
We mostly checked out the charter catamarans at the show and in this video, we take you on a quick tour of three twin hulls.
We check out luxury charter company The Moorings’ new 42-foot Leopard mid-size power catamaran.
Florentin Le Noxaic, the agent for The Moorings in Greece, showed us around The Moorings 434PC, designed in collaboration with Robertson & Caine.
We checked out a brand new Fountaine Pajot Saba 50, one of the two catamarans that make up the young fleet of new family-owned charter operator New Horizons Yachting.
Founder Corinna Dimitrou-Gkikas introduced us to the super chic New Horizons 2, the first Saba to arrive in Greece.
Corinna also took us aboard New Horizons 1, a Lagoon 450 catamaran which we almost couldn’t recognise.
Both cats are available for skippered charter to explore the Greek islands or mainland coastal destinations.
Hope you enjoy this video!
