Sailing lessons

“This is not the end. This is only the beginning,” as accomplished yachtsman and respected educator Kostas Manthos, who heads our local sailing club, always tells us.
We excitedly gathered at the Nautical Club of Palaion Faliron, in southern Athens, to be presented with our sailing licences upon successful completion of our two-month course. A beaming Kostas presented each of us with our certificates and licences and we enjoyed a glass of wine with our newly-anointed fellow skippers. We’re immensely proud to be a part of a historic club, dating back to 1937, made up of a great bunch of people. We look forward to contributing in every way we can to our club’s continued growth, encouraging people of all ages to learn to sail and promoting sailing and sea tourism in Greece.
On this first step into the world of sailing, we’ve made wonderful friends, with whom we hope to spend time getting to know better while testing our skills on the water. A big heart-felt thank you to all of our dedicated, hard-working instructors – Kostas Manthos, Giorgos Mitropoulos, Lazaros Ioannidis, Panagiotis Skiathitis and Evan Hadzikostas, and our theory instructors, including Epaminondas Banos, who attended the ceremony.
This is a night we’ll remember and cherish always. Wishing you all fair winds and calm seas!
